Super cyclonic storm Gaja crossed Tamil Nadu coast between Nagapattinam and Vedaranniyam near latitude 10.5, longitude 79.8 with wind speed of 100-110kmph gusting to 120kmph during 0030 to 0230 IST of 16th Nov ...
Heavy rains accompanied by strong wind claimed the lives of eleven persons in Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts on Friday ...
Government of Tamil Nadu, Government of India and National Disaster Management Authority have taken all necessary steps and precautionary measures during this Gaja Cyclonic Storm. According toTamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority, as many as 76,290 people were evacuated from low lying areas and sheltered at over 300 relief centres in six districts.
All the regional TV channels were busy with live coverage of this event ...

Thank you. We at Chennai are safe. Cyclone passed through the southern districts and severe damages are reported in some places. Relief operations are in full swing and assessment in progress in the affected areas. Much need to be done to restore normal life.
